Navi Mumbai is situated on the West Coast of the Indian state of Maharashtra, was developed in the year 1972 as a twin city of Mumbai. Planned with a specific purpose of decongesting Mumbai and becoming an alternative heaven for the multitudes that throng to Mumbai from all over India, Navi Mumbai is credited with being the largest planned city in the world.
DY Patil stadium in Nerul, which has hosted 3 IPL T-20 matches, is Navi Mumbai’s international Cricket Ground. The Sagar Vihar garden by the creek, known for its rich flora, entices people of all ages with its exquisite beauty. The planned construction of the Balaji, Swaminarayan , Amirtandamayi and Narayanguru temples; the Little flower Church; the Epsworth Methodist Church and other major Sikh temples elucidates the thought process which has gone into the construction of this satellite town .
The Kharghar and Parsik hills and the Pandavkada waterfalls in Kharghar are some of the places of interest in the vicinity. The beautiful hill stations of Lonavala and Khandala are less than an hour’s drive from Navi Mumbai.
